Sugar is considered to be the worst thing to eat especially when it comes to losing weight and maintaining a healthy body. It’s better to stop eating sugar for those people. A lot of people claim that that sugar is toxic, addictive and eating too much can cause serious problems in the immune system, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Even though having sugar in moderation is very unlikely to lead to serious issues, people over consume sugar and this over consumption leads to weight gain and other unhealthy side effects. The best way to reduce the desire for sugar so that you can control yourself is staying away from it entirely for a short period of time.

We are gonna talk about what happens to your energy levels, your skin, your brain and your body if you stop eating sugar for 30 days. We will discuss about 6 major changes you can expect if you stop eating sugar for 30 days.

1. Strong food cravings

When you stop eating sugar you notice strong food cravings especially of things like carbohydrate, chocolate and sugar. Studies show that sugar is addictive just like other drugs. The reason why eating sugar feels good is because it activates the reward centre in the brain and stimulates the release of dopamine.

If you are eating sugar and suddenly stop eating sugar you feel intense sugar craving because your body is not used to the absence of sugar. After a certain time the sugar craving will stop.

2. Improvement in mental clarity

This was proven in a study that low sugar intake benefits both memory and learning. Thinking, memory and learning are linked to glucose levels and how efficiently the brain uses it.

In a few days after giving up on sugar you should start to feel a big improvement on mental clarity.

3. Energy levels will improve

Study shows that low sugar high fibre meals increase energy levels especially for overweight people. When you eat sugar you will not only experience a rapid spike in your blood sugar levels but soon afterwards you will experience a drop in blood sugar levels. This is called sugar crash or reactive hypoglycemia.

When it happens it becomes more difficult to focus and concentrate. All you want is a long nap. By avoiding sugar for 30 days you will have more reliable and consistent energy levels.

4. Healthier and younger looking skin

Having more sweets in your diet can reduce elasticity of your skin and premature wrinkles. Study shows that high blood sugar levels lead to the acceleration of glycation. In this case the skin cells become abnormal ,stiff, discoloured and weak. Ultimately this shows up in the form of wrinkles , sagginess and the skin looks older.

The last change you may notice in your skin is acne. According to study increased insulin levels may promote acne. People claim that taking less sugar significantly reduced the acne in their skin.

5. Body mass and body composition

One of the obvious things you can expect is weight loss. You can easily lose 5 or even 10 pounds in less than a month just by quitting sugar.  People who take less sugar added foods have less chance of being overweight. It is better to stop eating sugar to weight loss.

If you cut the unhealthy sources of sugar from your diet you will create a negative energy balance automatically. And you are most likely to reduce sugar and insulin level automatically which will lead to a good amount of weight loss. Sugar itself is not an enemy, overconsumption is.
